We have gadzillions of Citi card holders here on this board. And yet, almost no one (except for sam & myself) has ever tried to get their best APR offers (Prime+1.9% or Prime+0.9%).

I wonder why that is. Phone phobia?

Have the plat select, prime+3.2, called the other day and asked for lower apr, and they said they don't have any offers for a lower apr at this time.

their best apr is prime rate, btw, the "R" lady said so, but said i'd need to be a long term member (years) before consideration. Prime+0.9% is great. I can remember paying 3x times the amount in interest with aria the beginning of this year!!

I'll go for prime rate later, really once you into the 7-8% area, theres savings seem to diminish on interest to your eyes.

If you didn't speak with "R", it really doesn't count. Regular CS reps are trained to tell you that.

Sam: there's a big difference between 5.5% (Prime) and 8.0%. Also, there's no telling how long the prime rate is going to be this low.

So what is the best way to get to the "R" department?

No direct # - just ask to speak w/ them.

As of right now I am on a intro rate of 6.9 till april 2002. My rate for purchases is prime + 3.9 , which will be under 10% next billing cycle.

But I only use it for balance transfers anyhows.

I fired another letter to citi via planetfeedback. Lets see if they reduce my apr again. If not, I'll try again in april.

I have had my account with them for over 6 and a half years. My apr is 3.24. They refuse to lower it. I asked for "R" and was told I did not qualify to speak with them. I sent a question letter via Planet Feedback, and was told no dice, 3.24 is the best we can do for you. I'm actually quite upset that they refuse to lower it.

Did they say why you're not eligible for any "R" activity? Was your account ever in default? They are supposed to give you a reason.

You should target the source, perhaps send another PFB letter asking why your account is flagged.

My account has always been in good standing. I have always made large payments. They said it was based on their internal scoring system as to whether or not I qualified for "R".

So, until they budge, I will only use their card for bt offers. It also helps my balance/limit ratio since the limit is over 20k (at least it helps on the CRs where the limit is reported).

My citi card is at 8.15% as of last statment and from what i have read it will e coming down more i guess if the rated dropped again..My wifes new plat select card was 14.74% and havent got a bill yet but i am sure that will come down as CS told me after the first bill it would be 13.99 due to the cut and now there was another..Also sent them a planet feedback compliment to lower rate because i wanted to do a hefty transfer..They offered 7.9% till paid with no BT fee's..I jumped on it and paid off the discover card which was going to be 16.99% next month..So i think i got a deal :) for my wife for having the card for less than a month..
