Is anyone aware how long your account must be open to apply for a CL increase? Also, is a hard inquiry pulled or do they determine this internally?

I got an online automatic line increase at 4 months. Carry a balance, make large payments. Check the "credit line increase section of the website each month after your account closes.

No inquiry if you don't fill out the little form there. If you fill out the form, voila! a hard inq. Just check to see if it says "congratulations" blah blah blah.

George, I get the same thing on-line. My account was opened 10/2001. April would make it six months. Do you think its six payments or 6 months from open date?

tommyy, if you have been using the card and making multiples of the minimum payment, check right after your next closing date.

I called CS to make sure they didn't pull a hard inquiry. Both my accounts were open 6 months, one was used very heavily, the other almost not at all.

After asking that they don't pull a hard inquiry, I got $1500 CL increase on each. The Rep said I could get more if I wanted an inquiry, but I passed.

If you have a "HARD" pulled...you better get an increase of NO LESS THAN $5,000...

    JUST MY OPINION...

Maybe a STUPID question...other than PAYING the CRA'S more money (and making your F.I.C.O. score go down)...what is the benefit of the CREDIT CARD COMPANY pulling a "HARD" vs "SOFT"???

They must get a lot of info with a "SOFT" every month...or they wouldn't do it...
