Does the same apply with a "sock drawered BT"? Citibank hasn't touched TU in almost 3 months, and hasn't looked at EQ at all (don't know about EXP).

Then again, being that I'm going to run the Crapital 1 card up this month, maybe this is a *good thing* though with my luck, they'll pull next month and go WTF?

    Dear To Much,

I don't know why you thought I might have deserved that response. You were quick in assuming and to judge. Not that I owe you or anyone else an explanation. I was just interested in why Citi seemed a little slow on raising the credit limits on our accounts as compared to others credit cards.(currently we have quite a few cards.. and keeping them for any possible great balance transfer offers and to make the debt to credit ratios look better). Also having a higher limits on these CITI accounts and MAYBE a new offers of good until paid rates would be helpful this fall when our current zero offers expire.

In response to others: We have excellent credit but a lot of credit card debt. Our FICO's are both over 700 at last check. I think I might have found the answer in the usage. His card has never been used for purchases, just the BT. My card has been used once for the initial BT and only used a few of times for internet orders.

Maybe I will buy groceries and gas on one of the cards next month and see what happens. I just have to be carefull that when we use the cards to remain in budget. I have a tendency to over spend when using a credit card.

Have you tried paying the balance off? Leat the 0 balance hit, then start cehcking for increases, give it about a month, if no increase, run up another small balance and try again. This usually get me an increase. They like a balance, but they like you to pay it off, too, and then continue to use the card.

Ok, I wasn't aware that they were ok with $0 balances. I usually don't keep more than a couple hundred on there... so I think I'll try your tactics. Thanks.

I got $900 increase last month after having Citi card about 7 mos without asking for increase and I had a BT balance on the card, so I never made any purchases other than my initial bt at 0% for 12 mos. So when they increase my balance, I did another BT @ 0%.

Lastly, you do not always have to be a new customer to get 0% from Discover. I had my Discover card about 16 mos. my bt rate was initially at 0% for 6mos., then 5.9% for my current balance. My rate was about to go up this month to 9.9%, so I called Discover and told them I had 0% offers available. The rep said he couldn't go lower than 9.9%, so I asked to be transferred to retention dept. The retention rep says they can do 7.9% on bt and 5.9% on my current balance, so I say "that is really high and I have other 0% offers available", then he says hold on and comes back a few minutes later,"we can lower your current balance to 0% and do bt at 5.9% for 6 mos." So I accept the new terms with no bt fees or hard inquiries.

So the key is that you have to be patient and keep trying to get better rates. It seems best to call about 6-12 mos. after a new account is established and calling few weeks before your promo. rate expires seem to work well for better deals. You will also need to pay all your bills on time.

    NEW CUSTOMER vs 1996

The best I ever got was 5.90% (NO FEE)...the "NORMAL" rate for me is 9.90% with a $50.00 FEE!!! I think the last FEE was like "UP-TO" $12.00 or something like that (SO IT TOOK A BIG JUMP)

They NEVER charged a FEE until recently!!!

Well I can only comment on my experiences. They said the 0% was for new customers, when I attempted to get a better deal in Jan. Now, they seem to have changed their tune at least with me over the past 2 weeks.

Maybe you can call Discover's retention dept. and see what happens. My bt rate is 5.9% but, they converted my current balance to 0% for 6 more months. I would say just try every 6 mos., if that doesn't work pay it off and close the account if you're unsatified.

1996~~I AM NOT A "NEW" CUSTOMER!!!

They will NEVER give me 0.00%!!!

I can't trade for the TITANIUM card @ 0.00%...I have to apply!!!

SAVE YOUR BEST OFFERS FOR THE NEW CUSTOMERS...YOUR OLD CUSTOMERS WON'T MIND!!!

I am not a new customer either. Anyway, you can always close the account and let them know why did so. There are too many other companies, that will work with a good credit-worthy customers on your terms to fool around with bad services/deals. I say vote with your pocketbook.

    Re: Citi - CL Increase

    Here's my theory:

Citi continually turns me down for CL increases, and always mentions low payments (or, in their words, "paybal") when doing so. That's what really makes them feel safe in giving you more credit, when you pay a large percentage of the balance every month.

People who pay in full, e.g. Breeze, are paying 100% of their balance every month, so they have no trouble getting CL increases. People with low promotional BT rates often make only the minimum
payment, so they have trouble getting CL increases.
