I had been making regular monthly payments to Citibank, yet they still turned me over to collections? I was under the impression that could not be done so long as payments were being made. Was I misinformed?

I had (in the past) made a verbal agreement with them via telephone to make 6 monthly payments of $150/mth and then I could call back to discuss being put on a hardship program.
Yet, when the 6 months was over and I called back, they stated that my overdue amount was now caught up, I was able to pay the $150/mth, so I therefore did not qualify for a hardship program.

This treatment toward a consumer who was trying to do things the creditor's way just doesn't seem right.

I think you may have been misinformed.

I had payment arrangements with them too. I made the payments on time and so on. Next thing i knew i was served papers from an attorney/CA.

I recently finished paying it off thru the attorney/CA and avoided any judgement.

At the time I did not know about this board. The lady at the Attorney's office told me " oh, no sir, you dont have to go to the hearing". it sounded fishy to me so i set up payments with them as long as there was NO judgement.

got the agreement in writing from the attny/CA

I paid it off, and they never entered judgement or reported on my CR's.

Ive read here that Citi only offers 80% pay off, which is more than I paid, but they did offer that to me for a lump sum.

I probably should have taken other actions but was so ignorant at the time.

    good luck
