I need some help with this Citi combining. A few days ago, before I knew about/understood this combining business, I applied for a Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card. Unfortunately my CL was only $1.3k. Did I mess up? By this I mean could I have gotten a lot higher CL if I applied for Silver & Gold and then combined? Can I still take advantage of this deal even if I already have the Dividend Platinum Select Card? How does this compare/differ from the regular Citi Platinum Card? Also, I am under my parent's name (I'm 19) as a joint holder of their Citi AAdvantage card - does this also limit the # of cards I can apply to? I asked a lot of questions - basically I want to know if it is still possible for me to do the combo and does doing so make sense? Btw, if this doesn't pan out, how quickly can I get a CL increase? I do a lot of buying/selling so I am hoping my activity will help me out. I don't want a hard inquiry either.
You can't do it now without an inquiry - but if you apply for the citi silver AA advantage card, that's one inquiry. If it is approved, immediately apply for the Gold AA card. Then call and combine those two with your platinum. Do not get mixed up with the world card, if it says "world card," you have the wrong one. If you can't find it, someone can find the link for you. You get both cards for one inquiry. Any time you go to get a card, do a thorough search on here to see if there is some "trick" you can use to be sure you get it, get a higher limit, etc. O rpost and ask first, if you haven't been on the board a long time. People will tell you if there is something special you should know.
Also, you should wait 90(?) days before applying for both the silver and the gold, because they only take two applications in that time frame. guys, is it 30, 60, or 90 days?? I don't remember. You could apply for one of them now assuming that your dividend select is the only app you've had with them recently. Convert it to a dividend select, then combine with the dividend select you recently obtained.
So what you're saying is apply for the Silver and Gold then combine those into Platinum then combine again with my Dividend Platnium Select to increase my CL? I'm still a bit confused as how to proceed. Also, thanks for the tip, I will ask from now on when applying online. Does anyone have good tips for applying for Blue? I really want it for its pricematching capabilities.
Ok well at least concerning the Citi combining, can someone give me a straightforward answer about what to do in my case when I already have a Platinum, albeit Dividend Platinum Select (however this differs from regular "Platnium") but with a low CL?
Step 1. Relax and take a deep breath Step 2. To maximize your potential, wait the 60 days so you can apply for two more cards (60 days being what they told me on the letter I got after my third application) Step 3. Apply for the AA Silver Step 4. If approved, apply for the AA Gold right away Step 5. Do whatever you want with your card combinations You can keep all three cards, combine one or the other or both with your current card, switch one or both of the other accounts to a different platinum product, combine the two accounts to one AA account -- whatever you want. The current limit on your Dividend card is not important to what they will allow you to do.
I would wait the 90 days, then apply for siver AA, if approved immediately apply for the gold. When you get both cards, before you activate or use them, call and combine. Then when you have them combined, ask to combine that with platinum you already have. The end result will be 1 card with a high limit.
Also, if you haven't been following this other thread (http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...hreadid=16906&perpage=50&pgnum=1&pagenumber=1), first Psychdoc, and then I was led through a similar process that just ended (for the time being) this morning in a $14,500 CL on a Platinum, when just two weeks ago I was denied a CL increase (on this very same account which was a $1000 Classic at the time). Marci, Psychdoc, and Breeze gave me some outstanding advice and it worked like a charm. Good Luck!
Is it ok to call and combine my SilverAA with my Platinum Select when both have a balance? Or is it best to combine when both (or at least the Silver) have 0$ balances? -Peace, Dave
Ok so let's say I apply for Silver, then Gold, then combine into Platinum. Do I move the Platinum into the Dividend Platinum Select, or the other way around - which is the better card? I ask because I don't understand exactly what the Platinum is - does it describe a general group of cards or are you speaking of a specific card? I went here: http://www.citibank.com/us/cards/ and I see several mentions of Platinum. Which card are you all talking about? Also, where are the Silver & Gold cards that get this whole process started? Thanks, sorry for all the questions!
I did look and I don't see (1) any mention of Silver or Gold and (2) see many mentions of Platinum. I was under the impression that these are all AA cards, but the only AA cards I see are the World MasterCard and Platinum Select Business Card. I'm confused...
Sorry. Click on <APPLY> at the bottom (don't worry, it won't hurt you) and you'll go to a screen that gives the breakdown.
Again the same thing applies. I click on "APPLY" and I see no mention of Silver or Gold. I do see many mentions of the word Platinum and was wondering which card you guys were referring to. (Try it out and you'll see what I mean.)
I agree. I'm not seeing references to the Gold or Silver either. Rina -- Conquering through Christ... and Creditnet
I forgot how confusing their site is. I remember wondering about that myself the other day. Click on <Citi AAdvantage World MasterCard>, then a new menu will appear on the left. Honest. After that, just futz around in the top level and follow various links. It costs nothing to explore...
Silver http://www.citibank.com/us/cards/cardserv/worldcard/index.htm Gold http://www.citibank.com/us/cards/cardserv/worldcard/index.htm after you get them, don't use them, call right away, combine silver with gold, then xfer to platinum. Hey guys, which platinum card are you using to transfer to??
