Citi declined me for CL increase!

I have a 45% balance on my Plat. Select at 0% until June and have been paying more than minimum, once 3 times minimum and they declined because of "insufficient payment history".

I have only had the card 6 months.

Of course I am not busting my butt to pay off a balance at 0%....what, am I stupid????

Anyway, has anyone else run into this? Would it do any good to call, and who would I talk to?

One good thing, I will get a free TU report out of it.

Here's the most authoritative post (to date) on the subject:

May I suggest that you do not "call to cancel", just say you're considering it & wish to speak with Retention. They'd take it from here.

YES!! So glad Saar is back!

I have gotten two automatic increases - 4 months apart. The first - I paid 10 x minimum, the second when I snapped em my $750 annual auto/homeowner's premium - a big charge on that card for me.

speaking of snapping somebody something, I wonder where the dogman is hangin' these days?

I would call and yank their chain a little, but I am pretty happy with what I've gotten so far without any inquiries, and my score is steady climbing because of it. :)

I tried to get an online increase on my 6 month old Clik AA card. After hitting submit, the application came up showing my Plat Div Select card number and error messages. I then went back and tried again with the same result. The third time, I got the 7-10 day message again with my Plat number at the top. I called C.S. and explained what happened. They could not explain it. The Rep said he could move some of my available limit from my Plat card to the Clik AA card. Duh. I told him no, and that I was only inquiring on an increase on the Clik AA card. I guess I will get the denial in the mail next week. Hopefully I won't get multiple TU inquiries for the screwup. Maybe I should call and play the give me an increase or cancel game...LOL.

FYI, the Rep said that I could not combine the Clik AA into my Plat Div Select, but I could if it was a non-Clik AA card. I assume I could convert the Clik to a non-Clik and then combine, hopefully without being hit with the AA annual fee in the process.

Be careful with the online increase thingy. If you have an automatice increase, it will just say "congratulations..."

If there is a form to fill in this is not the automatic increase, and you will get an inquiry for it.

Just look at the "credit line increase" page frequently - without filling out any forms - and see what's there. You might be surprised.

Yeah, thanks Breeze. I knew that but I was impatient and couldn't wait. I had no negs on my TU which they WERE SUPPOSED to pull, but they pulled Experian instead (CE 674). I also applied for the Amex Delta figuring they would pull EXP like they have every time before. Instead, they pulled my worst report, EFX (FICO 617). No doubt on that application:(
I guess I am not having any luck today, so I had better quit. :)

The strange thing about credit is that if you don't need it, they all want to give it to you. I decided to change my thinking, and when everyone gets excited about a new card, I tell myself "I've got plenty of credit, I don't need it." and I talk myself out of applying. But really, if I tell myself often enough, I begin to believe it, I think. I don't have much inclination to apply anymore. For a while, it was like an addiction.

I haven't had an inquiry since May, and 2 of my cards gave me pretty good increases, 2 offered me 6 months at zero interest. We'll see, what else happens, hehe.
