I received an offer a while back for a Citi Diamond Preferred card, and was hoping I could get some advice on whether it is worth applying for. The Diamond Preferred is a rewards card that offers 1 point per $1 purchased that can be redeemed. Comes with ext. warranty, purchase assurance, etc. The thing that probably interested me most though was the the price protection program (similar to the AMEX Best Value Guarantee) that refunds you the price difference if you find a lower price w/i 60 days of the purchase. The only thing is that the price protection program does not apply to Internet purchases, which I make relatively frequently, so I am not sure that it's that useful of a benefit overall. Finally, the offer came with a 0% promotion on balance transfers until 2004.

The only two strikes I can see aginst the card are (1) that the APR is relatively high in comparison to my other cards (10.65% variable); and (2) that the offer is not a pre-approved offer. So do you think the card is worth applying for?

If you have used it a lot on the card plus you paid it every month. Rewards Card ususally a little bit higher. You can always asked for lowering your rate later.
