OMG, I am so excited! I just called into citi to cancel the card, and told her my apr was too high. She offered me Prime + 2.9%. That's something like 7.24% right now. I'm amazed. I guess I'll stay with CitiBank.

    Congrat's!

Did the CS rep do it, or did they first transfer you to "R" ?

The CS did it. I just said the rate was too high and that another issuer had given me 8.9%. She took a second and offered me the better rate. I've closed all my accounts that had the wrong birthdate, except Citibank.

BTW, could I ever get Citibank to go any lower than that? What's the lowest anyone has gotten them to go?

Thanks George. What do you suggest I do if they are "tipped" off as to me having the wrong DOB? Should I just wait until June 11, and then call them a couple weeks later and say it was brought to my attention that they had the wrong DOB and have them update it? They wouldn't close it because I had the account with them as a minor would they?

    Hey Matty,

Don't you ever discuss these type of things with your parents? Or, do they not know about your cards?

Yes, they do know about them. My mom is glad to know I've cancelled most of them. I think it is better too. I will concentrate on saving more and paying down my auto loan now.

I think you made a mistake canceling Discover and the Cr union card. It will take some time to recover your position again.
