I would like to revisit the citibank approval scores. I have been waiting to apply for several months now. Equifax has screwed my report thus affecting my score negatively. AFter months of jumping through their hoops, I have sent off intent to sue letters to both Equifax and Ford Motor credit to fix the problem.

My second question is should I just go ahead and apply and ask to speak to a person directly. Give them the correct information so that the computer can be eliminated or wait until the dust clears from this potential lawsuit (which I will follow through on)

I got an AA Clik card with a 610 EXP and middle 500 EQX. I had to send in residency verification first though (phone bill). I only got a $1000 CL.

If you have any collections(even 5 or 6 yrs old), don't waste an inquirey. If any of your cards are close to being maxed out, don't bother. This is what they told me. I have almost two years of perfect payments.

How about 23 years of perfect payments...but "TOO MANY ACCOUNTS WITH BALANCES"
(WHY HAVE IT IF IT NEVER HAS A BALANCE ON IT)...

A very wise poster told me to pay my DISCOVERCARD in full before the statement is generated...IT WORKED, I finally got a $0 month...(float time makes me money...but oh well).

Thanks for sharing guys. I have low 600s Experian and mid 500s Equifax due to a 90 day late error. Should I apply and give proof of error.

Thanks for the info.....By the way George, why are you always getting the short end of the stick. It doesn't seem fair. Do you have some really nasty negatives or something?

Well I currently have a Citi with a 2000cl that I got two years ago. I applied for a second one and the CSR told me that I needed to wait 6 months - Denied...She told me I had 16 inquiries in the last 6 months...wheww i had noooo idea....EVERYONE pulls Equifax for me...she said to call back in six months and do not apply for credit in this time. Well then I stupidly went to Citi online and applied for an increase...they told me i had too many high balances which is correct. Since I joined this board I have been learning alot. I took BBauer's advice and used all the extra money that I have and slap it on my Citi card so that now it is finally a payed ontime below the limit account. Now i have to work on all the other maxed out cards that I have. Fortunately I have no chargeoffs or BK just a few late pays and over the limits..and TOO many dang Inquiries... I wish that I had found this board 2 years ago when I was in college and used to stupidly applied for credit just to get a stupid t-shirt. My TU score was 510 last time I checked. Experian is 500 and not sure of Equifax yet until I get my CR. I am about to start disputing the inquiries on my EQ CR b/c honestly I don't think I applied for alot of them. 19 are about to fall off by Febuary of next year so I'm excited about that. Just wanted to say thanks to all the Moms, breezes, BB, Shantel, and all you others who continually show support and encoragement to folk like myself.....

This may get George upset, but I just was approved for the classic citi card. My score last month was 526 with equifax. I have shared that my score dropped over 70 points when they reported me 90 days late in April which is false.

I received a letter from Equifax on Monday that they verified my late payment. Thus I assume my score has yet to go up. Although, I did send off intent to sue letters to Ford and Equifax on Monday via return receipt.

Apparently, Citibank has it's own scoring system. This will be my 2nd bank card and I have 1 retail card.

    Citibank 3000 8/01
    Cap. 1 2000 3/00
Home Dpt 300 8/01 (I know it's pathetic but I will call in a month or two for an increase.)

Thanks George... I'm still a newbie at this so I'm trying to determine why your higher score would be more "risky". This board has increased my understanding of credit matters immensely!

    MY F.I.C.O. RANGE IS 685-698
    DENIED CITIBANK ~5 times in 2 years...YES, I'M STUPID!!!

    People with 500-684 F.I.C.O. get it why can't I get it ?

I even had a couple of those APPROVAL # STICKER, AND AUTHORIZATION # STICKER, solicitations...DENIED!!!

I only applied because of the 1.90% or 2.90% for 9 months...and you can get them to go another 9 months...

BUT...I have given up on them, SINCE THEY DON'T SEEM TO WANT MY BUSINESS...
HAVE TO LEAVE IN 10 MINUTES FOR DINNER.

***BUT STAY TUNED...HAVE MAJOR NEWS ON MY BLACK CLOUD***

I kinda suspect that people with lots of cards and lots of available credit do not meet the profitability test, rather than the creditworthiness test.

    HOW?

People on this board have done it...I can't even get the card...ask them.

George, are these verbal declines or via the web. I cant believe that you would not be able to convince a supervisor that you are more than capable of adding an additional credit card. I guess trying a balance transfer to the card wont help either. Not sure, guess really.

    Mike G.

    ps
Customer Service said it takes 3 weeks to get the card. :(
