I have an odd question. My fiancee has a Citi Plat Select MC, w/ 10,700 CL.

Her APR was .9 for BT, and 18.9 for PURCHASES.

She had approx 4000 in BT bal, and $0 in purchases. I am an AU, I made a 5000 purchase and paid it off, CITI took MY payment and applied it to HER BT rate, now the APR is 19% for her original BT rate (I paid off my one charge before the statement cycled)

I called them, and they said it's in the contract that all credits and payments apply to the lowest apr first, we were out of luck.

We called 1800-950-5114, and asked then for a lower APR on purchases. They declined, they said "you are getting the lowest possible APR now" that is total BS, she has NO negs, but new credit.

We emailed Cust Care telling them that she was gonna close if no APR reduction was given, they said "we regret you decided to close your account......"

How on earth can we get the Purch. APR to 11.9 or lower? We PFB'd them, no response...

This is very upsetting...she tried to apply for another card, but too many inqs, and too new credit...so now she is stuck paying 19% What a crock of BS

Anybody have a FAX # for retention supervisor?

    Pls.Help. Thank you.

Danged if I know - but I can tell you never put a purchase on top of a BT. This is the way it is done.

Give us more info about her credit history, maybe there is another card she can get.

there is a secret way to apply payments to purchases with citibank, i forget but someone posted it.

this is an old trick, its in your agreement, im afraid that sucks. Get another card and BT ping-pong.

You're right sam, I remember that post too. Too late now. Time to find the girl another card.

Problem is that Citibank will not apply payments to purchases until balance transfers are paid off. Period. But if you have cash advances and purchases, you can apply payments to cash advances by sending payment to

    Citibank
    Attn: Exception Processing
    P.O. Box 6005
    The Lakes, NV 89163-6005

You should indicate that you want the payment applied to the cash advance balance only.

More than one rate on an account is unjustified:

Need only one rate not 3 cards.
