    Hi,

Sorry for the really stupid question, but I need to ask it none the less.

I applied online for the citiAA world card but did not receive an instant online approval. But about a minute later I got a call from someone at citibank asking me to verify my name and the name of an additional user. She also wanted to verify my email address for some reason. She then went on to say she will now finish processing the application.

I did not have the guts to ask her if I was approved or not (dont ask me why - I was just a bit excited I guess)

Anyway, what do you guys think? Is it possible I was approved?

    Thanks again,
    Sal

He's right.... I work at Circuit City and 95% of the time if they call the store and ask to talk to the applicant it will be approved as long as they can answer the questions they ask. Otherwise why call if you know youll decline it anyways?

    Update - I WAS APPROVED!!!

I can not believe it, they actually approved me for the Citi Platinum Select AAdvantage World MC - the revolving CL is $4700.

This is way more then I thought I could ever accomplish - just 18 months ago my credit was trashed, now I have a very prime card.

Thanks again, you guys are platinum in my book.

    Congrats on the card...

Used wisely, it can rebuild your credit as it helped me. Went from a 3,380 C/L in '01 to 12,000 in '03 by requesting 10-20% CLI every 3 to 6 months.

Just Remember that you can call after received the card to convert it for a now fee (standard) platinum Select card, Dividend Plat or whatever citi card you want.

I just called Citibank and had them convert my new account to a Platinum Select Dividend card - it lowered my apr and now I have no annual fee.

    Sal,

Just one question â?? did you ask to convert card before you have activated card and with whom you were talking â?? regular customer service? What was your score and which CRA they pulled over the line?

    Thanks,
    Denny

Yes, I called a regular CSR to convert the card before I activated it. My score was something like 680 or so, but it's important to understand that citi uses they're own scoring model - they pulled equifax.
