With gas prices the way they are now, I called Citi yesterday and they split $2,000 from one of my Platinum Select accounts and opened a Shell Mastercard for me. 5% monthly rebate on gas at Shell stations and a 10% rebate for gas for the first month. I figured this would be good for when I couldn't get to Costco to fill up. $2,000 was the minimum they would open the account with. For those of you with few positive tradelines, but who have Citi accounts, maybe splitting limits would be a good way for you to get another positive reported.
DaveLV, I applied for Shell Platinum Select Card two weeks ago and they denied me because I have too many accounts with them. They split $6000 from one of my CitiCards to open another account. Ron.
ron just wandering how many open cards do you have now I have 13 ps I saw a mailing on the bank one disney card fixed at 7.99 you might need to call R DEPT.
I applied last month for the Shell MC and was denied because I have opened too many accounts in the last 6 months. But, I checked my Citi Dividend acct online last night, and they increased my acct by 2.3k automatically, no hard inq. (They had finally increased the line from $600 to $5000 the month before. Hard inq.) Why the heck is this gas card so hard to get?
azur24, By the way, you can request to deduction portion of Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card to open Shell MC. By the way, I applied for the card last month and they denied me because exceed amount of credit card accounts. They reduced half of my credit line of my Citi Dividend Platinum Select to open Shell MC. I still have received my card yet and I checked with them last Monday. They told me they had already set up the account and I will receive the card within next week or two. Ron.
Re: Re: Citi Shell MC I just read your post and went to check my Platinum Select acct and as of the last day or two, I got a $1200 automatic increase. Brings it up to $13,700. I'm gonna call and tell them I was going to ask them to increase it to $15,000 so I could do a couple of BT's at the 3.9% til paid that they just offered me, and see if they'll do it.
Re: Re: Citi Shell MC Congrats LKH, That was my first auto increase in NINE years, but it really felt good. I wasn't expecting it so soon after that hard inquiry increase last month. For the record, I think at the time that I applied for the Shell card, my score may have been in the 680's range and that probably had a little to do with the denial, even though they would never admit it. My score is now 708. Gas seems to be creeping down, so I will stick to waiting it out.
Re: Re: Citi Shell MC Weird. I just checked my accounts and I got a $900 increase on one of mine. I've never had an out-of-the-blue increase on Citi before.
Re: Re: Citi Shell MC The real weird thing is that the account I gor the $900 on is right in the middle of a billing cycle. The limit is now $12,900 and it was $12,000 last Thursday. My billing cycle doesn't end until the beginning of May.
Re: Re: Citi Shell MC My billing cycle ended on the 10th, and I happened to be downloading all my statements into "Money" last night and caught the increase.
Re: Re: Re: Citi Shell MC If no automatic increase... They will pull a hard on Equifax. I requested it (by phone) two weeks ago and was granted after pulling my report. They raised my limit from 13.8k to 15k.
Is there a special number that you call for this to happen? I called Citi Customer Service and they are telling me that they have never done this.....I am trying to split my Citi Sony Card into a two cards. Thx
