Citibank "R" department can now offer you 5,000 bonus miles.

    Saar,

Did you say anything specific to get this, or just the usual "i'm thinking about closing the account.."?

I wonder if it will work for regulal AA cards

No. I don't have that card. And normally you don't have to threaten in order to speak with "R".

However, not everyone is eligible to speak with them - it depends on your internal score.

I received 7500 AAdvantage miles when I got mine. That was the offer they had in June.

    It's not a sign-up bonus, it's a retention bonus.

That's pretty good, then. For some people it could bump them up into the category of getting a flight reward. Check out Kellogs products. If you have kids who eat a lot of cereal or those nutri grain bars you can really build points fast.

Does anyone have the phone number for citi retention ?

I have tried a search for it on the board, but couldn't find it.

    Thanks,
