I applied 3 weeks ago for the citibankAA Gold and Silver using the BDD method as scribed by GEORGE (if memory serves correctly). I was told just after I announced it on the board that it hadn't worked since last January. Well, I received in the mail today a Gold card and a Silver card with combined limits of $4800. I called and activated the cards requesting increased limits. I was immediately given increases that gave me a combined $8200. I was told I could combine the cards into one anytime I wanted. I was too excited to think straight at that time so I'll call back later this week and combine them into a platinum.

In the long run, is it better to have two cards or one?

So it looks as though it worked. BTW, I only had one hard pulled on my EQ.

Congrats!. The BDD appears to have worked in a round about sort of way. It used to be that you applied online, got instant approval, then immeditely applied for the gold. As far as combining, consider that the gold and silver AA cards have annual fees of I think $85 and $50. If you combine and transfer to Plat. Select you have a card with a high limit and no annual fee.

AAHHH! So I did something slightly different? I applied for both online and submitted both within 15 seconds of each other using two separate browser windows. I was given a "will contact you by mail" answer so I called and she said the decision would be made in a couple of days. Thanks for the info on the platinum card. I guess I was too excited to see the fine print of the annual fees! The only negative thing is that they wouldn't let me do any BTs. Oh well, I'm certainly not going to complain. thanks again LKH.

THE "INSTANT" PART OF THE BDD WAS UNKNOWN...And the 2 cards one inquiry...
NOBODY HAD REPORTED 100% SUCESS ON AN INSTANT BDD...

I did a MODIFIED BDD...got we will contact you by mail...

SIDE NOTE...my 3rd card which is the "MODIFIED BDD" was concidered a CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE!!! (HOW STUPID)!!!

do you just call the number on the back of the card to get a no annual fee product? would they still convert my card if i have a really low limit? thanks

Yes, you call customer service, and tell them you want to convert the account to the platinum select. They do require at least a $1000.00 limit to issue the platinum card.

If you charge a lot and make a mixture of paying the balance in full and paying 4-5 times the minimum payment, after about 6 months you should get a nice balance transfer offer (e.g. 4.9 for life).

    703 originally when applied
695 when they checked my report for the additional increases.

BTW, even though I was told that when they would check my report before giving the increases, it would be considered a soft inquiry. I'm not sure why they even had to do an inquiry, since it had only been two weeks since they pulled the hard. Checked my report yesterday, those idiots pulled another hard. I intend to get it taken off, but am not going to be a butthead about it because I've just starting achieving bumpage that will help me out shortly.

Thanks rooms. I will do the BT shuffle then. That should coincide with my GM 0% BT offer expiring.

congrats Mike! so they took the full three weeks to get back to you? I was wondering, I got the same processing app message. When I called CS I applied for the Gold and she gave the same answer, 2-3 weeks. Goog Job

Thanks dep! Yes it took a full 3 weeks. Although I called CS it seemed every couple of days until I knew for sure it was in the mail.

Good luck and let me know what happens.

Mike I will let you know. the CS rep I talked to said that sometimes the online apps do not go through so I let her take another over the phone.(I know she gets credit for the app too) I only see one INQ on EQ my question is this did you get only one INQ for the double app?
