Hello, I would like to get another credit card. I had filed chapter 7, six years ago and have brought my credit scores back up. I currently have 2 cc's with Cap1 $800 & $2400 & HSBC for $300cl. I'm thinking of getting another cc and was looking at Citibank. I did include Citibank in my Chapt.7 Is it a mistake to apply with them? I was told that they use Transunion which is my highest score. Also, I now know not to close accounts but, I do have several that are on my reports that were in good standing. They are four, five, and six years old. Should I try to get these removed? Thanks! In my experience, I have gotten CC's from issuers that we included in our bankruptcy. Two MBNA accounts were included in our bk. MBNA was the only lawsuit I ever filed in the credit clean up that followed. It was a nasty suit, so I figured that would have created a ton of ill will. Evidently not. About 2 years ago, I got a pre-approved letter from MBNA, applied and was awarded a $20K credit line. That makes absolutely no sense to me. MBNA was bought out by Bank of America. BOA was also included in the bk. They ultimately closed our account after it was paid off. I don't know if the bk had anything to do with that decision or not. I have no advice on Citibank specifically. I would call and ask them what scores they require. I never got any of the top CC when I was in the low to mid 600's scorewise. Good luck!
It used to be that if you filed BK with Citi and it was within their records they would not issue another CC to you. However that has changed and now they do issue CC to those that have filed BK with them in the past. And they do pull credit bureaus using any one of the 3 major credit bureaus its not limited to just TU. Hope this helps
They used to blacklist as mentioned before but, that seems to be a hit and miss scenario now. Moreover, their used to be a delination between S.D. and U.S.A.. Doesn't seem to exist now either. In any event, go ahead and apply. Worst case is that they deny you. Finally, they tend to pull TU for midwesterners and west coast folks. On the east coast, its almost always Equifax.
Didn't work out as planned. I went a head and applied to citibank hoping that they would use Transunion however I just discovered that the pulled Experian, my lowest score. We'll see.
