I have disputed these several times and they always VERIFY with all three CRAs. Has anyone had any luck with getting these two companies to delete?
We got an old Citi chargeoff deleted by faxing a goodwill letter to this office - Citibank Credit Bureau Disputes P.O. Box 6241 Sioux Falls, SD 57117 Fax : 605-330-6780 It was about 5-6 years old at the time and we had paid somebody, don't remember if it was Citi or a CA about 50% to settle. They were still reporting the past due balance of $500. We explained how hard we were working on being financially responsible, hadn't had any lates in over 4 years and had several of the Associates gas cards (which citi had just bought) with perfect payment records. We offered to pay the balance as well and asked if there was any possibility they would reopen the account for us. (A 10+ year old cc, we had to try!!) In about a week they deleted the entire tradeline and sent us a letter to that effect. This was the first week of January. 2 weeks later we tried the Citi BDD and by the end of the month were approved for the silver and gold to the tune of $8500 and $9000. We combined into the Platinum Select. I've told this story several times before, but the biggest point is, you CAN get somewhere with Citi. We've made far more headway in terms with Citi and Chase than with Cap1. Hope this helps. DemPooches
Thanks for the reply. My problem with the Citi is that I have a charge off that is less than a year old and for about $6,000. So I guess they are right on top of it when I dispute it.
Yep, it's a lot tougher when it's something very recent and for a relatively large amount. Have you attempted to settle it and try to get them agree to delete the tradeline as part of the settlement? Also, in SC, the SOL is 3 years. I'm concerned for you that with the disputes you may have awakened a sleeping giant who might still come after you for the 6K. Is settlement an option? DemPooches
I would love to be able to settle but it is not possible right now. Not even close. I two different CAs trying to collect the same debt right now.
I understand and definitely wish you the best with them. Be sure you're keeping your eyes open for anything those CAs do along the way that violates your rights. Any violations would at least help to give you some leverage later on down the line when you're ready to deal with them. DemPooches
