I just spoke with an acct rep at Citibank regarding my approval on the aadvantage card. I didn't like it was a 50 annual fee so I wanted switched to a card without an annual fee. I got the Diamond Preferred card at 9.99%...he said that was the best he could do. Also, got 0% BT on my providian card (YEAH I CAN CLOSE IT OUT!) for 6 months. It's only 450 so I'll pay it off way within 6 months time. I also asked about a CL increase (they approved me for 2400 which is ok but not really). He stated they would need to get my household income, etc...and send it to review and pull my credit report again. I said NO WAY.... My question is this: Does Citibank do regular CL increase without pulling hards on my CR? He said they would do periodic (every 6 months) reviews but he was required to pull my credit to request an increase now. Since I don't need the 2400 and my BT is way less then that I'm not worried. But in the future if I want a CL increase do they always pull credit? Also, can the diamon preferred get a lower APR then 9.99%?!! I won't get my cards til a week or so but I'm thinking once I get them I can inquire on a CL increase again? Do you think they will do it without pulling my credit? And will they lower my APR if I ask?
Rule of thumb for Citibank is wait six months, check the "request CLI" on the website (it should show an automatic increase and not the "fill in" form), then rinse and repeat every three months thereafter. As long as you don't have to fill in the form, they won't pull credit for an increase (they go by internal scoring).
Ok, great! I saw that option on there. I'll wait and see what happens. This is my 1st citibank card and I'm learning
I asked for an CLI in Sept/Oct and they gave me a 1000 increase right online without the form. When do you think I could ask again through their online application for another CLI?
Hit them up again three months after the last one...if you still get the fill in form, you'll probably have to wait a little longer. Don't do it too often as Citibank supposedly keeps track of clicks on that "credit limit increase" tab.
Re: Re: Citibank and CL increases Hey thanks for the tip! I just did this and it showed an $800 credit limit increase that I could accept! So now I am up to $6300 on my Citibank card. It started out as $2000 in May 2002! Thanks! I love this board!
Re: Re: Re: Citibank and CL increases I should have the (4/96) Crap 1 card equalled if not beaten come next increase (should be next month) and it only took a year to do it (over 5 on the other card).
That's funny. I click that "request increase" button every time I login to my account. Oops. I have gotten one auto increase since I got the card, right at 6 months. Maybe I've been too trigger happy to warrant another increase. I like citi tho. Still milking their 0% BT till '04 from last winter.
