Last week I charged my car and homeowner's annual insurance premium to my Citi AA card, to get more miles - it put me a little over 50% usage on this card. Then, when I checked on it tonight, I clicked on the "increase credit line" link, and there it was!! "Congratulations! You are eligible for ... no credit report was used ...." Then I clicked on "accept." Now I will just pay that premium and take my balance back down. I just love this. Got $1,200 this time. Had the card since March. My first one was $500 at 5 months.
Just wondering.. I have had my Citi Plat Select Card since July.. I don't NEED more credit to use.. but need the increase to show a better debt to limit. Currently, I am using 64% on a 2.9 BT until March... is it to early for me to try to increase the limt?
Have you checked the automatic increase? You click on "manage my account" after you've logged in, and select "increase" or whatever it says - you will know when you see it. If you got an automatic increase, it says congratulations! and you get it without an inquiry. If it has blanks for you to fill in, you can request an increase, but it will generate an inquiry. I use the card a lot, have kept the balance down, and make real big payments (for me, anyway). What the heck, you can just put more stuff on the card, LOL. I thought keeping my balance down would get more increases, but this second one hit the day after the big charge (insurance premium) went through and put me over 50% usage.
It had the fill in boxes w/ a credit check.. so I guess I am not eligible yet. How long did you have your account before you got the first automatic increase?
First increase was at the 5 month mark. I got the card in March, got increase in August, and just got one Nov (8 months).
