I got a pre-approved offer for a citibank platinum card...does anyone know which CR they pull and what score they might require? I did have a citibank card a few years ago that is currently closed with a perfect history. I have a 624 EQ, 611 EX, and a 449 TU FAKO. Thanks
Crossing my fingers that they don't pull TU!!!

They usually pull from Equifax. You need more than 624 to be approved. Don´t waste an inquire. Wait a couple of months until your EQ score improve.

I work for CitiBank. They will pull TU only if required by your area.Eq is used for when applying for credit and exp is used when review for credit increases ..so who is wrong

If you don't mind, klfs.org, I have a question regarding your last comment. You said that Citibank will pull a TU if it is required 'by your area'. What do you mean by that? And who determines if a particular area will us TU or not?

Credit Bureaus have marketed areas that require the use of there credit bureau and at that point can only issue the for the area. Example if there is a Citi office in your state they have to follow guidlines based upon that. If there is not they will use as listed above

Well I live in Georgia, so would that mean they would pull Equifax since they are based here? And would I need higher than a 624?
    Thanks

yeah in georgia they will pull Equifax.

They will require certain rules, like nothing bad within XX months, etc.

If i were you i'd dispute everything and give it a shot, if you dont get it, well you'll find out why ;)

    i got a AAdvantage with 597 score ;) $4000 limit.

So in other words, does a TU sales rep go into a Citibank office in Dallas (for example) and is able to negotiate his own deal for providing credit bureau services to that particular office while the rest of the county (again, for example) uses EQ for issuing credit cards and EX for credit line increases as you suggest? Was every Citigroup Inc. region and/or department allowed to negotiate their own deals with the credit bureaus and then the corporate offices stepped in and negotiated one contract across all regions and/or departments and some of the contracts previously negotiated with credit bureaus still have to be honored for various reasons? I guess I still don't know why the Dallas region (for example) would use TU and the Denver region would use EQ.

It regions that are set up by the credit bureau NOT Citi. How it was set up I cant answer. What trouble are you having with TU. TU is very easy to get items deleted or updated.

I don't have any problem with TU (or the other credit bureaus for that matter). I was just interested in how and why a company used a particular credit bureau to pull a report. I'm more curious about the process behind the scenes than anything else. Thank you for your information.

    Buckets -

Many larger issuers will have agreements with all three and choose which to pull based on the zip code of the applicant. This dates back to the days when certain bureaus had geographic strengths over others - i.e. TU was for Chicago, Experian for the Northeast, and Equifax for Atlanta.
