Three of my bank accounts, I had problem with disputing laptop wrote dozen letters to citibank and collection agency calls have stopped all letters stopped.

with all freaking charges and attorney fee it says nearly 4grand

They froze $1000 in my assets, I am trying to withdraw everything from other places in case they subpoenut them as well. I havent received any court letter or anything.

How does this process work could someone explain to me? Is my best option to hire an attorney or file for bankruptcy

My guess is that the account they froze is a Citibank account of some sort - they have the right to do that without taking your to court.

So, was this a billing dispute, or did you default on a credit card completely?

Can you explain exactly what happened? I could not quite understand what you posted. What was the situation with this account, that it went to collections?

there are only two ways this could have happened:

1: You were stupid enough to have money in a ank that you owe money to, or

2: They sued you and got a judgement.

If #1 then shame on you. Kiss the money goodbye and move on. Keep your assets and liabilities in different places and this won't happen. You wouldn't swim in a shark tank, would you? Then why throw your money into a shark BANK (meaning one that's already looking for your assets to collect from). The same thing happens in both cases - you get your a$$ chewed and they get fed.

If #2 and you were never served with a summons, get thee to the courthouse and file a Motion to Vacate. Your grounds - Improper service of process. Also, get a Restraining Order on Citibank from taking your money from the other bank until the validity of the Judgement is determined.

If #2 and you were served witha summons, then what do you want? Use one of the Internet banks so the collectors will have a harder time finding your money. They tend to look at banks near where you live and work. I live in Tucson Arizona and do my banking in Minnesota by mail. get the idea?
