Hello All, Lurker here with an interesting situation, I have copied the letter I want to send out, that explains more, but I am having trouble finding out who to send it to. Hoping someone out there can help! I have done PFB, spoke to customer service (they even thought there had to be a mistake) spoke to the credit management department, they will not help, will not reconsider, pretty much blew me off, and treated me like I was a dead beat and treating them bad! The summary is I paid off my credit cards, they say is not my norm, (it is) flagged my acct. and decreased my credit line from 24.5K to 2K (between 2 accts. I am looking for a contact person (maybe in corporate) who will care, and help! My scores range from 695-721, not a single blemish on the report, ... if you have any contact info I would really appreciate it, I would like to send out mass e-mails and faxes, letters, etc. I have been a Citibank credit card holder for 9 years, and have had a perfect payment history with both of my Citicards. I have a Universal Platinum with a credit limit of $19,500, and a Citi platinum select with a $4,500 limit. I use the cards for business, and pay them off with bonuses and reimbursements from my employer. I recently attempted a charge and was declined. I was extremely embarrassed and confused. After numerous phone calls I have been informed that when I made a $16,500 payment, my account was flagged, and my credit lines were reduced to $1000 each. I have been told differing reasons as to what prompted this, as my credit reports show nothing that would call for this action. There are no negative items. My scores are all around 700. I have recently refinanced, and shopped for insurance and car loan rates, and have paid off my credit cards, this is the only activity. I am very upset and confused. I am not being treated like a valued customer. I am being penalized for paying on time and paying off my account. In the future I might take my business to other credit card issuers, as I have well established accounts and am treated as a valued customer .At this point, I don't know whether I can recommend you to others. However I am hoping this solution can be resolved. I enjoy the benefits that these cards have and especially like that I have had them for a long time and they show the long (good) history on my credit report. I am worried about the effect this will have on my credit score. The reason I am concerned is that it will show I have owed 24K+ on these cards, yet will only have a 2k credit line. I can not think of any way to prove my credit worthiness other than my past actions, by paying my card on time, and by using and paying it off. My entire credit reports (all 3) show that I have been very responsible, and a good risk. Here's the resolution I propose: I am requesting that a review be made of my credit. I would like this to be done internally, to show that this type of activity is normal for me. I use my cards and then pay them off. This has been the cycle for the last 6 years. I would also like my credit reports (all 3) to be reviewed. This will show that I have never had any late payments with any company. I am very responsible. My household combined income is over 200K a year. So I have had no problem with paying my bills. I am requesting that my credit lines be reinstated to at least the prior amounts. I would like to keep these 2 accounts, as they show a good, long credit history. I hope that this will be cleared up immediately. I can not stress enough how upsetting this has been. I have worked very hard to keep an excellent credit history with every company I have a relationship with, and especially with Citibank. I was very happy with the service from Citibank up until this point. I am sure that you can make this situation right, and hopefully this was all a mistake, as I can find no other reason as to why a good customer would be treated this way. Please find below the last 6 digits of my card numbers. Please contact me for more information. citi platinum select XXXXXX universal platinum XXXXXX Thank you for your consideration in this matter. I look forward to your prompt reply.

Be careful with inquires - to many of them reduces your scores and is a neg. on your reports.
Well your SOL. Citibank or any other bank can increase, decrease, and close out your account whenever they want. Read your disclosure when you opened th account.

Did they send you an adverse action notice? Did it indicate what reports they pulled, and why they reduced your CL? This is why you cannot depend on only a single company for any type of product or service. Two cards with the same company provide no protection against arbitrary or mistaken actions. You might send a letter to the top, outlining your long history with them, reliable payment history, routine business use. That you have received no clear answer as to the reason for their decrease, as customers like you should produce steady, reliable, and profitable business for a company like Citibank.
Thank you all for the replies. I definitely do not feel SOL, while I understand that an issuer of credit can lower my limits, I would hope they have a good reason. My DH's have not been affected, and our inquiries are quite similar, credit use similar (business use) although we do not hold joint credit cards or car loans, just home loans. I am thinking there is a mistake made, I just need to find the right person to handle it. I will not give up yet. It is worth some time, however I will not let this become my second full time job I will pay this off again, and just use my other cards, like Chase and Bank One. They seem to value my business more. Please post if you have a contact for me I would really appreciate it, or any other advise. I'm sure someone has been there done that. As per recommending this site... I have so many times. I have found the info priceless. I can not tell you how many of my friends have learned more about good credit use. I tell them that even if they think they know it all they can learn more. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about credit and find this to be my number one resource. I even get a thrill letting people know about this site. I know how addicting this can all be and I feel the excitement they will soon know. I always say you do not need to have bad credit to need this site. Everyone should know the things we all do. Thanks All! Off to find the address and fax for the Pres. of Citi, no joking!

Have you tried contacting them there?
UPDATE! Well Jody at the Presidents office came through! I called daily and faxed over proof that my other obligations were paid off. The problem was that I use my credit cards and them pay them off, so depending on the credit card cycle, they show a balance on my Credit report. And some months I carry a balance. I asked them to reveiw my payment history internally and they would see that this activity is the "normal" for me. Well they did and my limits are back up! Thank you all! I appreciate the imput!
