Just a follow up on the question I posted last week. I went to the Citibank site, clicked on the "Credit line increase" button hoping to get some info. I got a message back saying my request was denied. I posted last week and asked if anyone knew if this was a hard or soft inquiry.

Just found out. They did a soft inquiry on TU so it will not hurt me.

Yes they will always pull TU for this.

Credit increases with citi is a waste of time. Don't bother. Get new AAdvantage cards and combine to your current line. This has been discussed thoroughly you will get no-where on increases.

I got my credit line increased from $5000 to a total of $8000 by using Citibank's online "Credit line increase" service. It was two $1500 increases (six months between) and was given to me immediately after clicking on the "credit line increase" option. I did not have to fill out any information and it looks like they did not pull any reports.

I agree w/Sam based on my experience;I've never received a line increase on current card(gives BS reasons),but approved for 2 add'l cards.

    Go figure.

I was reading this thread and checked my Citi plat acct..
I signed up in march of this year received 7k limit.
July I clicked online credit increase automatic $1200.00.
I just left their online credit increase site with another
    $1500.00 increase. -- Citibank Rocks --
don't know what my TU score is but my EQ score was around 650 in Sept.
11.74 APR no annual fee 25 day grace
    They also report my limit.
As you can guess this is my best credit card.

I'm happy so far with Citibank, too, but for two things.

They are one of the companies who don't report every 30days to Experian unless Experian is at fault. This applies for both my Select and AA products. I have made two hefty payments to Select bringing my balance down quite a bit and I always pay off my AA which I used much more in Sept than this past month so an update would be nice.

The other thing is that my AA card is the World product and doesn't report my high credit limit.

My APR drops with the Fed cuts for both cards and as of my last statement the Select is 11.99 (I'm still on the 0% til April promo) and I don't carry a balance on the AA so I don't care what that goes to.

    Redline,

I can't believe this! I read your post and realized that you got your first CL increase online 4 months after opening your account. My account is 4 months old, and I was denied for a CL increase just two weeks ago,but I went to the website and got approved for a $1200 CL increase. They didn't pull a report, either. :)

    Thanks for your post!

Combining counts as a credit limit (one per 6 months)

Sam, Your method has not worked for me and some others else.

As posted before I have applied twice this year for the Citi AA and Gold AA and have been denied because "Your already have the Max number of Citi credit cards we granted to an individual". btw That costed to me 5 inquires on my Equifax report. I have two cards.

Another application isn't the way for me either - this time I was asked to produce a paystub, which I refuse to do.

I'll probably try the "R" route soon.

Sorry, the method works for me. I received my 4th AAdvantage card. I currently have 2 Platinum select products and 1 AAdvantage silver.

Perhaps there is another reason? Maybe your income is too low to support such high lines? I have 100K income for my 21K in credit line.

Nope, if the income is too low they'd decline the application without asking for a paystub.
