I got denied by Citibank about 3 weeks ago for a Driver's Edge Platinum card. They sent me a denial letter without a reason on it. I gave them a call and they told me it was because of late payments on other credit obligations in the previous 12 months, which was untrue. They told me I could fax them a credit report, so I did.

Today I got another denial letter, after them pulling a second inquiry via Equifax, with these reasons:
"Your credit report shows too few credit card accounts"
"Your credit report does not show any recently opened revolving accounts"

I only had two revolving accounts on my report, one of them being an AU account with Citi, and another being an AU First USA account opened in 1993. I also have a $16k auto loan opened in 2/2000 with no lates.

I just thought it was funny that one of the reasons I got denied was not opening any accounts recently.. Maybe I should reapply now that I have 3 accounts opened last month :p

I figure I'll reapply in a few months once their inquiries have "fallen off", and I have at least a few months of history with my new accounts.

Who'd have ever thought you'd put those two words together in the same sentence?
