OK, credit cards are totally confusing to me. After reading about the citibank trick I decided to try for myself... I applied for both silver and gold online about 30 min apart--received the same message for both, (that I'd have to wait for a mail notice). I received the notice in the mail, denied for the silver! I had a 690 FICO last I checked, have never had any lates or any kind of negatives, yet I can't even be approved for a Silver AA card. Also, BDD must not work anymore--I was denied for the Gold AA card. (the letter came the same day as the silver AA denial) Reason: "We can accept only one application for the same solicitation. Our records show that you have already responded to our offer." Does this mean they still pulled 2 inquiries? This incident just makes me even MORE loyal to Amex. Amex has been the only company to trust me with credit. Again, go figure--I have an Amex Platinum Charge card but can't be approved for a Citi Silver AA!
I don't know what it was, but screw citibank--I don't want their card now even if they offered it to me. What a joke--they said "Although we are unable to offer you the Citi AA card described in your original application, we are pleased to inform you that you have been approved for a secured account upon opening a Citibank N.A. certificate of deposit" Yeah right, like I'd open a CD with them. I'm still wondering why I was denied a Silver AA card with a 680+ FICO and no lates or anything negative.
Who knows why you were denied... JUST SOMETHING TO PONDER...some on this board have got DENIAL letters AFTER they got the cards...
Sorry about your denial, hello. Don't fret. Citi will be knocking on your door with pre-approvals eventually. I was denied a while ago due to an error on my report. I corrected it and sent an updated copy. I was denied AGAIN for a different lame reason. They asked me to fax some more info, but I was fed up and just left it alone. I now receive pre-approved offers from Citi and AT&T Universal both. I have not sent any in yet. You have a good score, but Citi has some hard to figure internal scoring system that takes other things into consideration when approving accounts. Just keep enjoying that Amex.
Somebody got the same thing...SOLICITATION...(sounds like they sent you a "PRE-APPROVED" type offer that you accepted, BUT YOU DIDN'T!!!
Yes, that is strange. Maybe they are catching on to the BDD. Has anyone else been denied when trying to pull a BDD recently?
I get my AA card about 14 days ago from the BDD. I'd strongly suggest you discuss the matter to find out why your excellent score didn't make the grade. It might have been a glitch. You may wish to pull your report and check it for issues too.
With that score, I would definately call them and ask for a reconsideration. However, please be advised that they may pull another hard inquiry for this. As George states earlier, I would also pull your report to check for any little suprises. Good Luck Does anyone have the Citi Reconsideration Dept. phone number?
Citi and AT&T preapproved is nothing more than an invite to apply. I know many who have been denied for these so called preapproved apps.
author_22, My brother receive his pre-approval offers for Citibank Platinun Select Card and he got approved for $5500. They still denied you if your credit history change. Here is the article that explains: http://www.creditmania.com/articles/article2.asp Ron.
Yeah, I know pre-approved is not guaranteed, but some offers are better than others. The ones I have been sent are only asking for my signature. They are not even asking for my employer's name. Just a work #. There have been soft inquiry checks on my report so if my history has not changed since that time, I know I will get the card if I call or mail it in. I have never been denied for a card that was pre-approved. Maybe because my history was still the same when they made the inquiry into my reports?
I also, have never been denied on a pre-approved offer. The only problem I have now is that I haven't gotten any preapproved offers in months. I used to get quite a few. I wonder if my scores are such that I'm not the worst, but not the best yet either? I got approved for the citi silver and gold aa, then converted to plat. select which just came yesterday. I also was approved for the Target visa. But, friggin Best Buy denied me last week = #1 reason - too many inquiries. I have 3 in 6 months. So, I dont' get it. Sorry I got off topic.
Geo, I'm sure my score is lower than you and I was approved for $5500 a year ago. Did they tell you what was the reason for the denial? Do you heard anything from Everbank? Ron.
