I received a Citgo card (issued by Citibank) about a month ago with a whopping $100 CL, I have a Home Depot (now issued by Citibank) with a $900 CL and was just preapproved (and got) a Shell Card (also issued by Citibank) unknown CLI as it has not arrived yet.

My question is, does Citibank look at the useage of these cards and, based on good useage upgrade to a Citibank MC/Visa?

From personal experience, on a Citgo gas card from Citibank, if you use it regularly, within 6 months expect a credit limit increase. For me it was from $200CL to $400CL. Too early to tell if they would convert it to a regular Mastercard/Visa ...

    Your mileage may vary ...

As far as I know...they WON'T upgrade any card OUT OF THE GROUP...

"IF" you had an AASILVER they could upgrade to AAGOLD...but a "GAS" card would UP-GRADE to nothing...

You "MAY" be able to TRADE for a different card...

You can COMBINE the credit limits on CERTAIN cards and close the one or ones you don't want...

    YMMV

I don't think cards like that could ever be upgraded or converted to Citibank MasterCards that aren't cobranded.

I considered any upgrade to a cobranded Visa/MC to be fantasy UNTIL Ron reported that his brother's Citgo card had been upgraded to a Citgo Visa.

Citibank doesn't issue the Home Depot Visa/MC (isn't it MBNA that does?)

But Citibank issues the Shell card and the Shell MC, as well as the Citgo card and the Citgo Visa.

I've used the Citgo card heavily, and I did get a $100 CL increase after a few months. But nothing since then, probably because I haven't made large payments. Needless to say, it isn't a Visa yet, and I don't expect it ever to be converted.
