Both my spouse and I had 30 day lates on citibank around January. So far, neither account has popped up late on our reports. any chance this just slid by under the radar, or should we expect this to show up sooner or later? By the way, I complained about them jacking up my interest rate to over 24% on PFB and they lowered it to under 12% - still not fantastic but certainly much better. Hmmmm....this makes me very nervous... Poochie
Poochie, We had a 30 day late on Citibank too and they seemed to have forgotten about it. I'm crossing fingers for you that it doesn't suddenly pop up. PawMix
Back in '99 when my payment habits were, uh, less disciplined, Citi sent me a letter to let me know that they would appreciate me sending a payment in and telling me about the importance of maintaining good credit. No late is on my reports. I sing the praises of Citicards whenever the topic comes up because of this and not jacking up my rates when my credit was at its worst among other things. Some people hate Citi. Mbna has screwed me but others love them. Makes one wonder if the banks divi up the pool of cardholders as to who gets to be "good bank" and who gets to "bad bank" for each debtor. 0
I think that's standard operation procedure for most credit companies. I had an absolutely terribly payment history for a number of years and while my credit report does show some late payments it reflects probably less than half of the times I was actually late. With Cross Country bank, for example, I know I've been more than 30 days late at least 10 or 15 times over the history of the account and I've been 60 and 90 days late a few times as well, yet the account only shows two 30 day lates on my credit reports. Some companies seem more likely to report it every time than others, and I don't really know what makes a company like Cross Country decide to report one late when they ignore 6 others. Also I've noticed that some companies seem inclined to forgive the first several lates, but once you get way behind or if you start to have a lot of lates they start to report it every time. Also, it's worth noting that the only thing they only report is 30+ days late. If you pay 29 days late every month you may get hit with a late fee every month, but they will still reported as paying on time. As long as nothing has shown up on your credit report by now I think you'll never see the lates. HTH, Brett
I was told once by a CSR at Citi that they do not report you as late until you fall 60 days past due.
