I just got my citibank platinum with a 5000 limit. I was hoping for higher, anyone had any experiance with them amd their increase policies?
My girlfriend is getting increases and promotional rates on a regular basis. If she doesn't take the offer usually within a couple of months another one comes along. She used a promotional 2.9% APR to participate in the CreditWorks program. Profit from the experience. http://www.creditsense.com
I have had an account with them for 6 years. My increases have been like clockwork - The only time I had to ask for one was when I requested my gold account to be converted to a platinum a few years back. I get increases pretty much anywhere between 6-12 months.
Correct. With Citibank, you get an increase of the credit line every 6/12 months. But, every time, they will raise your credit limit of few hundreds dollars. Amex is the best. I just got an increase of $6000.00 the other week.
I have had their card for almost a year, I have a platinum started at 1000, i have never been offered an increase, and I have always paid on time never late, so I wouldn't say the increases are automatic
My last Citibank increase was in March - the increase was 5k. It is my card with the highest limit. My Amex limit is my lowest.
I got an offer from Citibank to increase my credit line if I transferred balances at a promotional rate. Accepting balance transfer offers, and I know you get them, may be a good way to convince Citibank that a credit line increase would be profitable for them.
citibank usually starts people out with a low credit limit then reviews the account after six to twelve months to see if they can increase the credit limit or not. They usually wont increase it during the first six mothns because they use that time period to establish a paymenbt history with you. Once they know what youre payments are typically like (low amounts or high amounts)they will try to increase youre credit limit. If youre credit limit has not been increased within that time frame you can always call them and ask them why.
