I just got off the phone with Citibank. My Platinum Select Business MasterCard application was approved for $5,000. Since last July I've been able to get: Advanta - Started at $5,000, now $8,000 Amex Open Delta SkyMiles - $22,500 Chase OfficeDepot Business Visa - $10,000 BofA Platinum Business -$35,000(!) Amex Gold Business (today) Citibank Platinum Select Business - $5,000 It looks like I may have reached the point of diminishing returns. I may try for one or two more business cards before I call it quits. Does anyone have any more suggestions for business credit cards?
I have no experience with their business card but you might want to try Fleet. I hear that they give generous lines on their business cards. You should probably apply before that 35K BofA hits the system. I've had the 5K Citibusiness card for two years and no increase. About 6 months ago, I asked for one and was told that I had plenty of credit with citi already (about 41K at the time including the biz card). After that, I got increases on citi personal cards so that perception seems to be limited to the business side. They frequently offer good BT rates but only for up to 1/2 of the credit line. The biz website sucks. For one thing, you can't pay online. Nowhere on the page does it show the amount of your last payment. Instead it shows the amount paid over the minimum so if your mimimum was $50 and you paid $300, it will show as a payment "$250.00CR." It also has two sections, one for the company and for each individual cardholder. In my case, it's just me. For the company it will say that there is $4,000 available credit but under my name it says $5,000 available credit. Don't know what they smoke over there but they really should use only on weekends. Advanta is good at giving increases. I started at 12.5K and it's now up to 18K. They like to send 3.9 BT offers but the catch is the 3% fee capped at $100. Also, in the past they refused to lower my way too high 15.94 APR. So the card gets used only occasionally to keep it active and then it's paid in full.
