I went to citicards and clicked the 'request credit limit increase' and automatically got a $500 increase with no credit report pull (it told me this much anyway) pretty nice. Too bad they never update my credit report to reflect my low balance. just fyi, they did do an AR last week, as did Shell (which is also Citibank).
i got one also just 3 days ago on april 15 th. I got a 4,800.00 increase without clicking on the cli button, soon as i logged on i just about fell over!My credit line went from 10,400.00 to 15,200.00 now.I would have to admit citibank is the best credit card company out there, and i even have high debt some what, and the funny thing is that they know it but i am making very good payments on all of my balances at interest rates less then 6%.Now i am waiting on my att universal card with them to raise any day now.
Since october of 2001,when i first got the card back january of 2001 my initial credit limit was 9,000.00.My first increase was for 1400.00 on october 4th of 2001 making my credit limit 10,400.00 at that time.Citibank is more generous to an exent, much better then MBNA that's for sure. Also i think citibank is not near as bad with their credit decision when it comes to automatic cli's as compared to some other credit card companies out there.Take for an example chase bank really has tighten up on giving out increase on existing card holders,i can under stand why because they got screwed over, and over by corp. fraud, and other bad credit experiences. So they are not near as good like citibank in my books.I rate citibank #1 because of their great service that they offer,i am currently on a 4.9% fixed BT rate GUTB is PO.
JFYI...few weeks ago I received $10.000 credit line increase on my Chase Platinum...so they are still generous...plus I still enjoy 0% BT rate for 12 months...and I closed my Citi Platinum with $14.000 credit line just because they were screwing me with reporting...with Citi when you have high balances they do report quickly but when you have low balances or it's paid off Citi takes 4-5 months to update with CRA's.
ble103, It is so good to see you post again! I find this to be the opposite for me wrt to Citibank and MBNA. MBNA has raised my credit line way above the competition by several thousand without my even asking, but Citibank, while generous, has frozen my increases "because of my income". And Citi will not budge...
Citibank is more generous to an exent, much better then MBNA I'm happy for you, but it's been the opposite for me. I haven't had an increase from Citi in five years. They are one of my oldest cards and by far the lowest CL I have. I got a hard inq. from them last year with no increase. On the other hand MBNA just gave me a 16,500 CL on a pre-approved Platinum Plus at 0% balance transfer till Jan. of 04. They have also been generious with the Quantum card. I have a Citi & AT&T pre-approved application sitting on my desk now for 0% till Jan 04. I am so tempted, but I know in my heart that I will get a 500 CL (maybe not that much) and a hard inq. I'm happy for you, but in my opinion Citi SU*KS, and if any thing gets me going it's just thinking about Citi. I guress they are looking for new blood since they seem to be sending out a lot of pre-approved apps.
My experience is that both MBNA and Citi have been generous about limits. I started out with Citi in 2000 with a total of 21K in limits which have increased to 44K. Started with MBNA in 01 with 5500 and now at 21K.
Re: Re: citibank raised my limit today I don't know the answer to that question directly, but I have read here that people were approved after they wrote MBNA via PFB immediately after a denial.
Re: Re: citibank raised my limit today I agree that Citi is great. I've been with them since October 2002. I started at $5,000 and they've raised me twice up to $7,500. Compare that to my "good" friends at Cap1. I've been with them for almost 3 years and my total CL is $2,700. Citi is by far my favorite. On the other hand, I got a preapproved offer from Chase Platinum and I'm waiting to hear back on that. I also applied for a BofA card (yes, I'm bad, bad, bad) so we'll see if Citi still remains king of the hill.
Re: Re: Re: citibank raised my limit today I called Chase and said, "well, while I'm on the phone is there an analyst I can speak to?" and she reluctantly put a very nice man on who approved me for 10k on the spot. When I get it maybe I'll ask for more lol. I'm curious about your b of a. I was thinking about applying for their biz card.
Re: Re: Re: citibank raised my limit today I know we are all thrilled about credit line increases.... but let's face it, they CL's increases aren't raises, they're just another opportunity to get us into more debt. The card company has the last laugh.
Re: Re: Re: citibank raised my limit today I got the B of A Platinum! $6,500 CL which I'll certainly take. I have a friend who makes considerably less then me and they just bumped him to $12,000 (from $6,500 strangely enough). He had only been with them for about a year. My Cap1 renews in August with their stupid $39 fee. I can't wait to tell them to go jump in a lake. I still don't understand how all of these other prime lenders can give me such great rates and terms and they can't.
Re: Re: Re: citibank raised my limit today I am waiting for my Bank of America card. It will be one of my first and starting with a limit of 1000.00. I plan to close out my capitol one card (limit of 300.00). I have been with them for two years, never been late and they refuse to raise my limit. I opened a checking account at Bank of America and they said I would automatically get their Visa card (still waiting to see it happen).
