I got $2.43.....I haven't cashed it yet because I have a Charge Off with Citi and was thinking it was a trap to get my checking account number.

Maybe it's real if you all are getting it. To be safe I might just cash it at a Citi branch.

I thought it was a trap also. I too had it as charge off and then sold off and then iib. They cannot do anything now, so I cashed it also. If they have a judgement against you then they may be interested in your account number otherwise how does it help them?

They don't have a judgement against me. In fact they sold the account to NCO.

I have heard a lot of horror stories where they take money out of your account. Even though it's illegal
it makes you chase them instead of them chasing you.

I doubt Citi would do that, but I'm not so sure about NCO.

Just to be safe I'll cash it at a Citi branch.

Does your local grocery store cash "SMALL" checks...AGAINST your $50.00-$100.00 of groceries???

    JUST A THOUGHT

Yes, the grocery store will cash it too.

I'm probably making a bigger deal out if this than it is. Just trying to be cautious because the check looks fake and I never heard anything about Schwartz.

I don't think any of us heard about Schwartz. WE just received a credit to our account. I think you received a check because the account is closed. I doubt they would come after you now. But, if you are worried, burn the check - it's not that large of an amount.
