I'm starting to think that the gold AA isn't held by citibank itself but one of its affiliates, like how the WORLD card is a separate bank too.

Did you or do you plan to ask CITI, USA to reconsider your application? Which card was it that you were denied?

I just put in for the Travelocity World Mastercard so we'll see how it goes......

I was denied citibank USA. Quite honestly, i'm going on a holding pattern for applying. I have $15K in credit at prime+0.9%, and there is no real need to apply for any other cards, unless they offer better rates. Right now the only card i would want is AMEX, but they are too stingy for my business, and their 9.99% rate is not competitive for my needs.

I will hold off for 6 months, then apply for more citi cards/credit.

I have closed all my piddly cards cept two retails (radio snack, and spiegel) and need to concentrate on paying off my debt before crimmas.

They have standards, (fico) and I didn't make them.

Sam, I have a quick question for you regarding Citibank.

I presently have two cards from Citi, specifically a AA Platinum Worldcard ($10K line) and a Dividend Platinum Select ($9K line). I have had the cards for about two months now.

I want to increase my lines by getting another card. I'd like to get another $10K card if at all possible. What should my strategy be? Should I combine the cards to one card with a $19K limit, then apply for another card, like an AA Gold or something?

What do you advise? Thanks for the advice.

Not sure. I just applied for another AA and got it. They only give me like $6K lines. Guess I don't make enough :(

Keep applying, The AAdvantage are probably not very popular at the moment!!

Sam, I don't think that reporting as Citicorp has too much meaning. I also have the AA gold, and it reports as :

    eq: Citicorp Gold ML
    ex: citibank preferred M/C
    tu : citibk gold

Equifax is weird sometimes, like reporting my target card as dayton-hudson.

I think I would combine to the Platinum......then apply for the Silver AA. I can't remember the rules on how may Citi cards you can have, etc. but I know you can at least have 2. At one point I had three but know I have 2. I want to apply for an AA card again but I think they have chaged the rules and now you can have 2 Citi cards max??? Someone correct me please....

At any rate, just combine to platinum. That will clear your way to get AA. I'm sure in light of everything.....the AA card my be even easier to get.

When you were denied cit, did you just go in and put everything on dispute? I have disputed some items, but should I dispute every negative I have? And if I should how long do I need to wait before I apply to Citibank. I will use experian, they have deleted most of my negatives. Please give me some disputing tips.

I figured the 665 score would be good enough for citibank USA, but i guess not.

Citibank usa != Citicorp != Citibank NA

Citibank NA is the one you want :)

I believe you are correct in that you can now only get two Citibank N.A. cards. I know there are a lot of people with more than two but I recently (within the last 30 days) applied for a third card and received a letter stating I had the maximum of two Citibank N.A. accounts which is to include AT&T Universal. I also received a call from the executive office on another matter but confirmed this as well. I was told that if I wanted another account I would have to either consolidate my two accounts and apply for it or convert one of my accounts into the account of my choice.

    O.k thanks for the clarification.

I need to make some decisions because I have 2 Citi cards (classic and Gold AA) and I want to consolidate and get another card. I need to call and see if I can combine my Gold to my classic card, upgrade that to Platinum, and try and keep the same dates and pay history since I've had the card since 92. I'm not sure what they will do if I upgrade to Platinum because Platinum is MC. I have a Visa. So if the upgrade, the account number will change, thus potentially wiping out my old card history. I guess I could just combine Gold to classic and that's it. Then apply for Silver and/or Gold.

Another thing that bugged me was before I got Gold AA, I finally got a high enough limit on my crap classic ($1200) to upgrade to Platinum. I opted not to do it because they told me that my account number would change (visa to mc) and the *memeber since* date on the bottom of the card would change. I was like, no thanks! Having member since 1992 on the bottom of my card means a lot to me. So....needless to say I need to do some homework before I try to do any power moves!

I would have thought so too that is why I was wondering if you requested a reconsideration. Some people with BK's and on Citibank N.A.'s blacklist have gotten the Hilton HHonors card which is Citi USA.
