    Hi, I have a question about a civil judgement on a car I didn't payoff from 1996.

The date it was entered was 08/1996 for $7070. It doesn't appear anymore on my reports.

The questions this, if I buy another car, can the finance company tow that away???

Just my 2 cents, I'm not a lawyer!

Just because the judgment is off your reports, does not mean it is not enforceable. In many states judgments are valid for 10 or 20 years and can be renewed.

I don't know your situation, but it appears that you have remained "invisible" or "judgment-proof" since 1996, otherwise the judgment creditor would have attached any property, bank accounts, wages by now

If you finance another car they could not tow it since you don't own it (the lien holder does), but they might be able to find out about your other assets / employment that would come to light in connection with your financing application, and they might take the steps needed to enforce their judgment now
