Clean Up Credit Report Day?

This is just a thought but if we would announce a Clean Up Your Credit Report Day and maybe even have have two days and have everyone across america dispute the erroneous items on their reports then maybe the CRA's would realize that everyone is prone to error once and awhile. But if they would correct the problem immediately and quit causing everyone alot of grief then it would make their job and our lives alot easier. I am sure alot of the TV money channels and even local channels would do articles on the Clean Up Your Credit Report Day. Most of them would probably find mistakes on their own reports.

P.S. I have been running through my head also of having a Consumer Credit Conference. And get these problems out into the open and try to find a way to solve them.

This is just my two cents! I look forward to everyones opinion.

Email is turned on if you would like to email me.

    hey Elf,

Click on "account" at the top of the page, then click on "preferences" and you can set up your email so it will work. Once you answer an email, your email address becomes known to that person. Since we seem to have some antagonistic folks on here, be careful after that. ;)

Thanks for the information breeze. I understand what you are saying but I am a pretty tough elf. Things just hit my hat and bounce off so I am not to worried about it. Heck if these lurkers decide to flag my file that would be fine. I would just go back to living on cash only like I have for the last couple years!! LOL

This is a great idea, I especially like the one about the conference. There is a FDCPA attorney in Texas, I have seen him mentioned various times on the net, and it would be great if the conference comes to fruition if he spoke - he has made a career out of battling the CRA's.

My only thought - think of all the CRA spies that would try to get into the conference. I can see it now during coctail hour - "Hi what's your name? Why are you here? Where you from?.....hidden camera and microphone rolling all the time : )

My idea of the conference would be to include the CRA's in the line-up of speakers and give the people attending a chance to ask questions of these companies. Why not put them in a position of giving us more information on the exact methods of how they handle our reports and an opportunity to answer our concerns of mistakes on their part and ways that we can work together to correct these problems. Because if something like this does not occur then it comes down to we as americans forming a group and hiring lobbyists to get our congressmen and women to change our laws as they are written today. Which I believe needs to happen anyways.

    Wow, that's GOOD :)

as for knowing their procedures, it seems to change with each employee.

Eg: I've been told for a balance update to 0, if the creditor doesn't respond then only that portion of the trade line is supposed to change... and in your favor. Yet experience shows that they delete the whole trade line.

If you dispute as "not mine" and they get no response, then the whole thing goes away.

Intelligence would say that if the cra chooses to dispute a trade line that isn't being requested in dispute, and the creditor doesn't respond, and it deletes, that they should be able to correct their own error. Yet instead, they start on the reinsertion crap and say it has to be certified from the creditor. Sure. all of a sudden they know the FCRA when it hurts us.

The procedure is supposed to be 30 days from the date of receipt of the dispute.

Yet Equifax reps have told me over and over that their standard procedure is 10 days from the date of receipt to even enter the dispute, then 30 days from that. If that really is the case (and I've gotten that from more than one rep) then their standard procedure violates the FCRA and constitutes willful noncomliance.

What they tell us they do, and what they really do, are worlds apart.

By the way, I'd do a

    National Check Your Credit month.

After all, if someone hears it's a day and it's passed... they may wait.

But over a month... that'd be good.

Perhaps January. It's a good "fresh start" month and if it's in people's resolutions they might actually do it.

Great Idea! We should make it in January and have it a month long. Why not start the year out right.

As for your other post..that is why I feel we should have a conference and get the heads of the cra's together and see what exactly their policies are on these issues.

Actually, why not make it December, just to keep things interesting? They'll really get the message I'm sure.

In January everyone's doing their resolutions for change, progress, and action.

People might actually DO something in January...

besides, December is my goof off month and I don't want to have to deal with the Stooges then.. (whine).
