I don't know what to do next in order to dispute a TL appearing on EX & EQ but not on TU. Please advise?

Here is the info so far:

I had an account with The GM Cr-Card, opened in 1992, DOLA in 1994 (after I lost my job I just couldn't pay)

I moved back to my parents' house, I had no job, and I just stopped using credit and paid cash for everything and I never heard from The GM Card again.

Then in 2002 I got a cell phone and in Sept. 2002. I began receiving letters from NCO about the GM Card account which I ignored because I presumed that it was well past the SOL for collection in NY State (1994-2000=6 yrs, 1994-2001=7 yrs)

They periodically sent letters for a few months, then in April, 2003 I got a phone call from them at work.
I listened carefully and asked what they were calling about. The guy told me it was about a GM Card debt which dated from 1994. At which point I said that it sounded to me like that debt is past the SOL and hung up.

I was concerned however, and I pulled copies of my CR's from all three CRA's to see what's going on.
There is nothing on TU here is what's on the others:

    EXPERIAN
    HHLD BANK
    Las Vegas, NV
    Act # XXXX-YYYY-ZZZZ
    Date Opened / Reported Since 11-92 / 9-02
    Date of Status / Last Reported 9-02 / 9-02
Credit Limit / High Balance NA / $1800
Recent balance / Recent Payment NA / NA
    Status: Transferred
Creditor's Statement: Purchased by another lender

This account is scheduled to continue on record until 9-2012

My question: Why until 2012 ????

    EQUIFAX
    Household Bank
    Account # XXXX-YYYY-ZZZZ
Unsecured / Account Transferred or Sold
    Date Opened: 11/92
    Date of Last Activity: 3/99
    High Credit: $1800
    Terms 250
Items as of Date reported: BAL=$0 Status=R5
    Date Reported =9/02

My question: I know the very last payment I ever made to my GM Card account was in lated 1993 or early 1994 So how can the DOLA read 3/99 ???

Anyhow I sent a validation letter to NCO over 30 days ago got the green card back and nothing from them. I have not disputed this with CRA's yet.

Should this be my next step?
Dispute as not mine? or how?

    Can someone here help me?
I really appreciate everyone here who has answered my questions in the past. It's because of reading these boards that I have begun my journey to repair my reports. Thanks!

Edit - Whoa - the original creditor is reporting it?

I would try disputing it as not mine first.

Others - isn't their a nutcase around here for unpaid chargeoffs? Might be useful in this case.

    Thanks for your replies

I don't understand the 'scheduled to remain until 2012! where do they get that number from on an account with DOL payment in 1994?

I will do as suggested and dispute as not mine, but there is also some very inaccurate personal information on EX report.

EX has at least 6 variations of my name listed as AKA, (middle initial, no middle initial, jr, sr, mispelling) They also have a totally incorrect birthdate, and totally incorrect Driver License Number

Should I dispute all the name/ DOB/DL info first as incorrect, wait, then dispute the HHLD TL? or dispute HHLD TL as not mine first, and leave incorrect info alone for now? (EQ has only 1 other AKA listed, TU has all correct personal info listed)

Hmm, I just relooked at your Experian again.

It looks like it is reporting as a positive! That would explain 10 yr reporting period.

Is it on your derogs page?

Thanks LB for your advice in your previous post, I will dispute with EX and EQ as not mine, and deal with the Re-age later if necessary....but

    jlynn,
I don't have copies of my reports with me right now I will have to wait until I get home later.

From what I remember it is listed right underneath my one very good TL with Chase MC

what is strange is how could EQ's status show R5 and EX be reporting positive??
(well it's not all that strange when you realize who/what we are dealing with)

BTW i will fire off those disputes to CRA's as not mine tonight or tomorrow to try and take advantage of CHOD, does this sound like a plan to you?

I just checked, it is listed as one of 2 accounts in good standing, no derogs on EX!!

Should I just dispute as not mine with EQ where it is showing R5 for now?

Yep, dispute with EQ, leave it alone on EX. This always makes me nervous though. I have a fear that they will correct all three and shoot myself in the foot!

Keep an eye on your EX report for them to do something stupid with it.

ok thanks jlynn for your advice
I figure I will dispute it with EQ and leave it alone on EX for now.

If EX changes the info I can always dispute with them, I'm sure this is a case of re-aging an old account whose DOLA was back in 1994.

I hate to lose a positive (?) TL, since I don't have many

What should I do with the 5 incorrect names, wrong Driver's license # and wrong DOB on EX?

My thought is to leave it alone for now and work on getting EQ negative removed

I would dispute EQ first, and if it is not deleted I would then contact Household directly thru PFB and explain the situation and how they are violating the FCRA with the reage and ask them for deletion. Household will then probably delete both the EQ and EX tl's but that's life. They DO respond to PFB complaints. If that fails I'd escalate to BBB and FTC online complaints.

I imagine the CA will get deleted no problem once you dispute it.

Funny thing is the CA has not reported it to any of the CRA's
