A few weeks ago, I don't know how it happened, I noticed some terrible white scratches across the blue square design on my card. So last week, I called in and asked for a replacement. The rep told me the only numbers that would change are the 4 numbers that are not related to the main account number, you know, the numbers in little print. Well, today, the replacement card arrived in the mail and when I opened the envelope, I noticed that the last set of digits for my account were different. I was not expecting this. I called Amex and asked if this card was going to show up on my credit reports as two separate accounts. They said no, it would be just updated by the bureaus. But, from what I've seen in the past, this doesn't happen. Any change in an account results in a completely new account listed on the credit report. On another note, the card is the coolest looking card I have ever seen. My original Blue card was off white with the blue square in the middle. The new card is completely CLEAR, see through with the blue square in the middle. This card is truly hot looking. I didn't know the card had been redesigned to look the way it does. I can't wait to go out and start using it in public because I will get so many questions as to the way the card looks. Amex is awesome, I really like this bank. Don't you all feel the same way? Anyone else have any thoughts or ideas on this matter?

I recently lost my Amex Blue, I should be getting a new one monday. I'll post to let everyone know if I got a clear one or not. my2kgt
I got a replacement at the end of Sept - it's clear (a little frosty at the top). Definately the coolest card - I always get a comment on it when I use it.

Re: (CLEAR)BLUE from AMERICAN EXPRE I have the frosty (not clear) Blue card; received it last month. Whenever I use it people make the same comments about how cool it is. Tempted, after reading this post, by the idea that the "clear" Blue might be cooler I called Am Ex three times, each rep gave me a somewhat different answer. The first rep said they're back ordered and will send the "clear" card to all Blue account holders slowly. The second rep said the clear card will be sent once your current Blue card expires, and finally the third rep said they're phasing out the clear card because they've had a lot of complaints about the strip on it. I don't know what to believe?

My friends at the table were pretty amused at the way the card looked. They all had to hold it and look at the design. When it was time to pay for my meal, even the waitress said, "Man, that is the coolest card I've ever seen." I must admit, I thought the original Blue card was pretty nice, but this clear stuff is just so much nicer! I think this card is going to make me buy a lot more things so I can use it like crazy, just because of the way it looks. To see the expressions on peoples faces when they see it is just PRICELESS. But if I don't watch myself, I'm not going to like the way that statement looks at the end of the month! Well, I'm off to go buy some pizza from Domino's, Papa Johns or Pizza Hut. What the heck, maybe I'll get pizza from all of them so I can use my card!
