I have numerous closed credit card accounts on my credit report from years ago when I closed them out but the DOLA is like 6/2003 and they continue to stay on there. What is up with that? Does that mean I can't get them removed or something as they will just keep updating. Can I dispute somehow and get them removed?
Are they positive or negative tradelines? If, positive, leave well enough alone. If, negative, dispute, dispute, dispute! Is the date of last activity changing, or any other info? Or are they just reporting the same old info each month. That may be normal, I'm not sure.
My Sears account has been closed/zero balance/paid in full for at least 5 years - and they still update my report every month. Ozzy.
so accounts closed are deleted 7-10 years after they are closed, but if they are postives, then closed cards don't hurt you that much, except your utilization, right? Also how does a card that was cancelled and reopened report on a CR? Does it state it was closed and reopened or just open, paying as agreed?
I have NO negatives on my report whatsoever but I have alot of credit thus a low score. All the accounts say "closed by consumer" but update every month. IE: about 3 of them say "date of last activity" is 6/2003. Some of my closed accounts (Loans paid in full) show the actual paid off date and don't update monthly. Just seemed odd that a company will update a closed account to the credit bureaus. If the closed accounts don't bother the score then I'll leave well enough alone. They are really old so I guess that will help with my credit timeline, right?
I thought the accounts if paid as agreed stayed on if the DOLA is current. IE: My account state "date of last activity" is 6/2003 therefore won't they stay on indefinitely if they keep reporting? So, what date does the 10 yr clock go by?
