Will credit card companies reopen your closed account or will they make you submit a new application?

"IF" it has been less than 90 days...YES...(maybe)---VARIES FROM BANK TO BANK

Some like FLEET have it in the fine print..."WE ARE UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO RE-OPEN ANY CLOSED ACCOUNT IF WE CLOSED IT OR YOU CLOSED IT"

...or some words to that affect

they don't need to get authorization to close an account, but need it (new application) to open a new one...its a fraud prevention thing...and besides, they want to check your credit again to see if your falling apart financially.

years ago i had closed a checking account, someone reopened it, and $1000 later - well you get the idea.

HOWEVER, if you had a good account with them you may be able to convince them if you reapply to only pull a soft inquiry.
