Hey! I disputed a notation on my Experian report. They note that my Macy's account is open. That account is closed so I disputed it. Anyway, now they updated and it still says open. However, they put a statement in there from me saying that the account was closed by consumer. Why does it still say open on the upper left section???? If they contacted Macy's I'm POSITIVE they would tell them that it is closed. I called Macy's to verify that they have it listed as closed. Could Experian have just made the notation without investigating? Thanks in advance for your help...
Happens all the time. is the statement in CAPITOL letters? If so, then it was experian that added the statement to your account. Call them up and tell them that the account is supposed to be reporting a closed. And also ask them to remove the statement. If it stil comes back verified ask open, call up macy's and ask them to send you a letter stating that the account has been closed. Then send the letter in to experian.
That misleading strategy alone should get Experian a nice class-action suit. Instead of investigating a consumer dispute, suggesting that an account marked open is actually closed, they add a "consumer statement" but don't change (or verify) a thing. Seems to me that for class-action law firms, FCRA litigation is still unknown territory. But the first ones among them to utilize that niche can expect nice profits. Saar
