After some tense moments and the time of the closing changes from 3:30 to 5:00 to 1:30 to as soon as you can get over here, we closed on our house today and started the long process of moving. Interest rate went from 8% down to 7.375%, we changed brokers due to the fact they weren't licensed in Louisiana, and GMAC Mortgage is the one holding the loan. Unfortuately, there were two conditions attached to the loan. One, I had to pay off the Department of Veterans Affairs ($172) for an overpayment of my GI Bill. Two, I had to pay off my Capital One chargeoff. I called up Mr. Cooke and made an arrangement to settle a $954 chargeoff that seemed to be getting bigger for $300. He was supposed to fax over to me a letter showing those terms so I could bring that to closing. We agreed on this on Wednesday, and as of the time of closing, I hadn't received a promised fax, so I had to pay the whole amount. The cool thing is when I get the letter, my title company will refund me the difference before they send it to Capital One. But, thanks to a lot of people on this forum especially Fla-Tan who put me into this position, we now have a house and I can tell the slumlord I was renting from to take that deathtrip and shove it.
Congratulations! That news just made my day. We are supposed to close on August 25(if the house is completed). We hope to be in your shoes real soon. Anyway, good luck in your new house. Now you can start hanging out at Home Depot and Lowes. Oh and watching HGTV. hahahaha Seriously, good luck in your new home!
Enjoy it in good health....great news! I know how exciting it feels at the closings...when you actually get that key in your hand. clc
