Hi All has anyone ever closed the american express membership banking accounts? I was wondering if it was better to call or write them to close. Long story made short we are having a little misunderstanding in regards to my overdraft account (They made a transfer even though i didn't overdraft) and because of this and other problems I need to close. Love their blue card, not impressed with their banking. Thanks!
I closed my Money Market with them a few months ago due to the LOW LOW interest rate. NetBank is much better on rate. I sent them a letter. They were a little slow, but got it done. That way I didn't have to listen to them say, "Please don't close your acccount". Just be sure and cancel after your statement prints so you get the accrued interest due to you. They don't pay any accrued interest if you close, so make sure they print the statement and add the interest-then close.
