I've been lurking here for 2 years and have come a long way. This board is a great resource and I don't think I would be buying a home without it. I took the advice found in the posts and realized it is not an overnight process, but 2 years later have brought up my wife and my FICO scores over 100 points each.

A month ago was pre-approved for a 135K FHA using downpayment assistance. Put down a 1K deposit with the builder. Locked in at 5.5%. Just got of the horn with the settlement company to see if I need to bring a cashiers check to the table. The reply was: 'Well Mr. xxxxx, I see here you do not have to bring anything, you will be getting some of your earnest money back".

Thanks to all and to the newbies: hang in there and don't get discouraged.

You and I have taken just about the same amount of time. It will be two years for me in a few days. I got my TU and EQ clean and my EX down to only two negatives. I was able to buy a home about six months ago. I never thought I'd be able to qualify for a mortgage. This really is a great place...

I still remember the night I swore I was finally going to do something about my credit and started doing Google searches. It took a long time, but it really paid off!
