The 'problem.' Collection Account: Equifax and TransUnion (Does not show on Experian Credit Report.) From: CAINE & WEINER COMPANY INC (CA or Attorney? I don't know.) Original Creditor: Progressive Amt: $204. Date Opened: March 29, 2018 *I have disputed and TransUnion notes: Account information disputed by consumer, meets FCRA requirements. No notes from Equifax I don't know if this is a CA or an attorney. I don't know if they 'bought' the debt or if they were hired by Progressive to collect the debt. I have no idea what to do do for this one as I don't know if the 'collection' agent is an agency or an attorney or if they bought the debt or are simply hired by the creditor to collect it. I need kind of a 'flowchart,' that goes something like... Original Creditor (Go here) CA (Go here) Attny (Go here) Orig Creditor (Use this strategy/letter, etc.) CA (did they buy the debt? -Go here ; Are they hired by creditor - Go here) *Etc, etc. Any advice would be most welcome. Caine and Weiner is a CA. Likely didn't buy the debt but are contracted with Progressive to provide collection services. Have you received any kind of further communication from the CA? Hope you come back and give us an update. I've been gone from the forum for a long time but am looking to get active again and hope I can provide some help.
