What happens when I pay a collection account - does paying effect my score at all? Will it go down because it will have a new date of last activity or will it not effect it at all. I have a collection that I have to pay in order to get a copy of my transcript for college.

Anyone have an answer to this question.

You should do some more research on this. I do not think they can with hold your transcripts for non-payment. I know they use this method to collect, but I do not think it is legal.

Any idea on where I could start to get the answer to this. It would be great if I could still get my transcript without having to pay this - since it has been disputed already. I actually withdrew from a class by the required date, stopped payment on the check for the class, but their system did not somehow see my withdrawal. One of the few times I didn't keep a paper trail too!!!

If anyone can help me out here, I'd appreciate it.
