I have a collection account on my CR from electric company as under: Status: Collection account. $481 past due as of 3-1998. Status Details: This account is scheduled to continue on record until 1-2005. This item was verified on 12-2002 and remained unchanged. Date Opened:10/1995 Type: Installment Reported Since: 03/1998 Terms: NA Date of Status: 03/1998 Monthly Payment: $0 Last Reported: 03/1998 Responsibility: Individual Credit Limit/Original Amount: $481 High Balance: NA Recent Balance: $481 as of 03/1998 Recent Payment: $0 Account History:Collection as of 3-1998 I tried to settel with the company but they are not willing to remove it from CR. Please advise how can I get rid of it? Thanks.
I am also having trouble with a stubborn utility company. Have you tried disputing it with the CRAs? It didn't work for me but it might for you. I couldn't think of anything else to do, so I am paying them the amount (less than $100) with a restrictive endorsement that says if they cash/deposit it, they have to delete the TL. Hope it works.
