I just recieved the oddest two letters from Gulf State Credit/OCI. Why are they sending me this letter. it reads as follows: "Dear Humblemarc, Please be advised that the account referenced above has been closed and will be deleted from the credit bureau during our next reporting cycle. We apologize for any inconvenience this matter may have caused. If we may be of any additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Portfolio Support Divison. . . . " Okay, here's the scenario. Two accounts on my files, not mine, with $6,000+ balances. Disputed with EQ and EXP. and removed. Still on TU because i didn't dispute yet. did not send out any validation letters to them! Why are they sending me this letter??? . . .There some type of class action suit going on somewhere against Gulf State? . . .I always put "cc: attorney's name" on all of my correspondence with CRA or OC's, this seems to make my disputes a little more serious, but i haven't contacted gulfstate directly, so. . .? . . .Most importantly, what violation of the law did they commit, that has them so scared, that they send me apology letters. They're afraid of something bigger than my little dispute, unless. . . someone won a large settlement for a reporting error. Any ideas out there? p.s. yes, i am happy.
From the disputes you submitted to Eq and Ex. The CA has to obtain verification from the OC...they probably could not get any such verification, and have sent you this letter telling you it will be deleted. It SHOULD be the norm really, too bad it is not. CONGRATULATIONS. Dispute immediately with TU and if they somehow verify, send them a copy of the letter. -Peace, Dave
I think that Gulf State is getting a lot more apologetic, that's for sure. I got that same letter...but not until I sent a nasty letter to them. Congrats.
