Hi All, A collection agency called my office to verify if I worked there. The later sent a fax my admin to fill out and also get my signature before faxing it back. I asked the my admin to call back to get more information and the agency told her they are planning on suing me for a debt(about 5K) I owe to Amex. This debt is about 4 years old. Can the collection agency do that? What do I need to do? Should they be calling my office and discus with my admin or anyone for that matter? Please help! Any advise will be appreciated.
"THEY" can't discuss why they called... I DON'T EVEN LIKE MY CREDIT CARD COMPANIES CALLING ME AT WORK...and I have never had any "BADDIES" "WE" don't allow personal calls...unless it is an EMERGENCY or VERY IMPORTANT... AMEX calling me at work to DISCUSS my accounts is NOT and EMERGENCY!!! Especially since I was HOME...and the phone NEVER RANG!!! ...and I told them to respond by E-MAIL or US MAIL!!! HOW CAN CALLING ME AT WORK BE E-MAIL OR US MAIL???
You guy's are not memorializing these phone convos. You would be astonished at how fast they jump when you do this. Go over and spend some time with your admin person tomorrow morn. and tell him/her you need his/her help. Find out exactly what was said and WRITE IT DOWN. Then go home tomorrow night and type it up. Tuesday see him/her again for sig. in the am. Fax it Tuesday afternoon to CA. Photo copy letter and fax confirm and send CRRR, Tuesday afternoon or on the way home from work. These people will have the umistakable impression that you're NOT screwing around. They are already perfectly prepared to declare that this convo. never happened. REVERSE THAT IMMEDIATELY! Follow these instructions to the letter: By him/her signing it's indicated that he/she is prepared to testify if necessary. Fax it first and then send snail mail CRRR. You already have most of your letter written out. (see your first post)
Here's a good example of what I'm talkin about. 2 weeks after they got this they just threw up their hands and sent me a check for $1,000.
Just read your original. I'd throw in there that it appears that this conversation may cost you your job. (HUGE damages)
