hi...i need some help.... i sent out some certified letters to the credit bureaus.....and now i'm getting calls from the creditor attempting to collect money......do i ignore the calls or should i speak to them. i dont want to say something that will affect me. so if i do have to speak to them, what can i tell them. tks
As a general rule, I suggest never speaking to collectors over the phone. Always conduct your correspondence in writing. That way, you have proof of what was (or was not) said. Google the creditor / debt collector and get their mailing address, then send a certified letter stating that it is "inconvenient" for them to contact you by telephone.
