I'll try to keep this short.

I had surgery a few months ago, insurance paid for everything except a $100 ER charge, which has now gone to a collection agency.

My plans from what I could gather from other posts on this forum:

Call them and ask for the collection to be removed from all CR bureaus in exchange for payment, making sure to have something in writing verifying that they intend to not report the debt. Also make sure to not admit the debt is mine outright, only that I am willing to pay the amount.

Is that correct? Please let me know if I have missed anything.

    Thank you.

Have you talked to the hospital about this? I am not sure of the "them" that you are referring to. I would try that avenue first and see what they say. Just play dumb and be like Whoa! What the heck, can I just pay you and then you call off the CA? I have good credit and so on. Climb the ladder if you need to get a different answer, someone should be able to help unless the CA owns the debt.
