    follow-up

I sent the validation letter to CTI and they didn't reply but apparently they sold the debt to LVNV ( another CA ) which asked me to pay. I ignored them fro 2 months and now a 3rd CA which is a law firm ( WELTMAN, WEINBERG & REIS..)

Weltman ....wants me to dispute the debt within 30 days otherwise they will assume it is valid. They will provide me if asked the name and the address of th eoriginal creditor

Reminder thsi debt date from 2001 in WA. I have no recollection and never received any bill from Blue Navy

    Waht should I do now?

    Thanks

SOL is 3 years for Washington and 4 years for California either way they are out of the statute of limitations.

You can send them a cease and desist letter also stating that you are aware that the debt is out of the statute of limitations. Time Barred.

Debt from 2001 should come off of the credit report this year. But it can still show on a long report where if you make a purchase of 150,000 get employed for 75,000 or get insurance exceeding 150,000 the old collection may show up on that report. If you plan no major purchases then let it expire off of the short report.

If you want it to go away for good. Best thing is to send debt validation and when they verify offer payment for deletion of the account listing off of the credit report.

    Sample Letters

If they can't verify then that benefits you because they have to remove the account listing off of the credit report and cease collection efforts.

What about if I ask them to validate the debt?
If they do, I will send them the "cease and desist " letter since the debt is from 2001.
If they do not, they have to stop harrasing me

By the way they claim that the original debt was $23 and they are asking now $196

    Thanks
