TU most noteably is using a new dinger for your credit score which is 'recent inquiry from a collection agency'. It seems that I had an inquiry on my file from a collection agency two months ago, and they are now using it is the number 2 reason for the score being where it is.

    It says:

    FACTOR #2

"Consumers with recent collection agency inquiries are more likely of future delinquency."

Think about that statement. They may be more likely of a future CA report on their credit file (which was not the case for me) but it is a stretch to say they are more likely of future delinquincy. This nicked the score about 25 points FYI.

So, if in my case, this CA pushed through 2 Hard INQ. on my report now, after I had a heated argument with them via the tel., what is my recourse? Do they have a permissible purpose of accessing my credit file? They are the agent (not assignee) of AMEX, but AMEX is the only reported account on my credit file. They act on the side, assisting AMEX in their collection efforts. I have sent them a demand t remove the inquiries and they would not respond (CA name is COLLECTCORP, out of WIlliamsville, NY.). They broke about 10 laws when we spoke on the telephone, including calling me a 'no good weasel' and 'deadbeat'.

If the INQ's are within 30 days of each other the CRA has always deleted them for me.

I have the same problem with a CA that runs a hard every 2 months on me. I'm trying to find out if I have any recourse.

I sent a Cease and Desist to a CA named Plaza that was working for AMEX and they stopped.

I thought CRAs did not dispute inquiries? Was it with TU? I believe they are the toughest on inquiries.

It has been said before on this board and others that the collection agencies pull inquiries to "poison" your credit report and by doing so, it will lead the consumer to pay them. It has also been said before that the credit industry uses software that will notice any inquiry by a CA. If they violated on several occasions, go after them and try to get them to go away and delete the inquiries.
